The one thing
Peter Marino designed the six treatment suites at Dior Spa Cheval Blanc Paris as chapters of Christian Dior's own life, and the one called Granville carries him back to the Normandy house where he grew up, with its English garden and its hydrangeas. The skincare worked into the treatments comes from the same story, because Dior Prestige is built, the house says, on some twenty years of research into the Rose de Granville, a rose named for that same town on the Normandy coast. So a facial in the Granville suite closes a circle very few spas anywhere could draw, with the flower, the room and the couturier's own childhood all telling one story at once.
The verdict
Cheval Blanc Paris lives in the old Samaritaine department store on the Quai du Louvre, beside the Pont Neuf, and since it opened in September 2021 it has become one of the most talked about addresses in the city. It is the Paris house of Cheval Blanc, the small LVMH hotel collection, with seventy two rooms and suites, three Michelin Keys and a place on the official list of French Palace hotels from 2026, and it holds all of that with a surprising lightness for a building so large and so famous.
The spa sits below, and Marino imagined it as a classic Parisian apartment, all rare marble, precious wood panelling, hand laid mosaic, metallic patinas and soft, low light. It feels far more like being let into a private Paris apartment than like walking into a hotel basement, and that domestic warmth is deliberate, because the spa was conceived as an extension of the Dior house itself.
Christian Dior once said that his ambition was to make women not only more beautiful but happier, and the whole spa reads as an attempt to take that sentence literally. Each suite opens a different facet of the house, so a guest can choose the room that speaks to them, and the most personal of them carries a horoscope across its ceiling.
Between treatments there is a long mosaic pool at the level of the river, a sauna and a hammam, an on site salon run by Rossano Ferretti, and a small Dior boutique for anyone who wants to take a little of the scent of the day home. It is a spa that feels like Paris at its most private, and one of the very few in the city where the story behind the rooms is as rewarding as the treatments inside them.
The water
The pool here is thirty metres long and it follows the curve of the original Samaritaine building, which gives a swim a gentle arc, as though the water has taken the shape of the walls around it. The artist Michael Mayer finished it in hand set mosaic, and the pool reportedly took around two years to build, which shows in the way the light moves over the tiles when the surface is still. It sits at the same level as the Seine just outside, with openable screens toward the river, so a slow length at the end of the day feels quietly connected to the city going on beyond the glass.
The heat side of the journey is short and well judged, a sauna and a hammam for warmth that settles deep into the shoulders, followed by a snow shower that takes the breath for a second and leaves the skin bright and awake.
Treatments
Each of the six suites has its own private white onyx bathroom, so the whole treatment, from changing to the last quiet minute afterwards, happens behind one door with nobody else in sight. Bonheur, meaning happiness, has massage beds for two, Sauvage leans into raw materials with a bed covered in alpha quartz, and Bonne Étoile, Mitzah and New Look each take their names and moods from other chapters of the house.
The signature treatments run between an hour and a half and two hours and treat face and body together. Le Soin Micro-Abrasion pairs sapphire crystal exfoliation with light therapy and finishes with the Kobidior face massage, for anyone who wants visible lift and definition. Chorégraphie Sensorielle and Énergie Précieuse are slower and more soothing, and Sublime Révélation is the long one, built to revive and to settle tension. Dior Face Baths use water infused with actives grown in Dior's own gardens, and the Dior Tissue Massage blends Western and Eastern technique to work the whole body properly. On set dates through the year, the energy specialist Guillaume Valmage leads a Holistic Massage of his own. The full menu runs to around forty eight treatments and changes with the seasons and the Dior collections, so it rewards a return visit.
Haute Motherhood, launched at the end of 2025, is something few luxury hotel spas have even attempted. It is a journey through the months after a birth, with a four hand Rebozo ritual of around two to two and a half hours drawn from a traditional postpartum practice, a Restorative Flow massage, hypopressive breathing paired with Reiki, postnatal Pilates and yoga, and a baby massage taught to the parent in three stages, with the baby welcome from three months old. Baby Dior treatments extend the same care to children and teenagers.
Getting in
Cheval Blanc Paris stands at 8 Quai du Louvre, in the first arrondissement, beside the Pont Neuf, and Paris Charles de Gaulle airport is around twenty two kilometres away. Access is restricted, so check availability before planning a visit around it. Treatments are booked by phone on +33 (0)1 79 35 50 55 or by email at spa.paris@chevalblanc.com, and the hotel does not say plainly whether visitors who are not staying can book, while the pool, sauna and hammam belong to Le Club, which serves hotel guests and a small membership of around sixty five, from 6:30am to 10pm daily. Staying at the hotel is the surest way in. General treatment hours are not listed, so it is worth confirming times when enquiring.
What to know before you fall in love
- Children are part of the picture here, with Baby Dior treatments for ages three months to eighteen years, so this is a family friendly spa and not an adults only hideaway.
- Everything happens indoors, beneath a working city hotel, so anyone dreaming of gardens, terraces or open air water will find the drama here is in the craft and the materials instead.
- The menu changes with the seasons and the Dior collections, and Guillaume Valmage only treats on set dates, so a particular treatment seen online may have moved on by the time of booking.
- Haute Motherhood begins from three months after a birth and needs medical approval first, so it is something to plan a little ahead.
