The one thing

The signature treatment at Four Seasons Resort Megève is called A Stroll Through Megève, and it is made from the mountain the hotel stands on. The body ritual works a scrub and massage of silver fir, the tall Alpine conifer of these mountains, and the facial is built around edelweiss, the small white star of a flower that only grows high in the Alps. Both end in the same unexpected place, with a dessert created for the ritual by the resort's Executive Pastry Chef, Jonathan Chapuy, so the treatment carries on past the door of the room and finishes as something to taste. It is a lovely, generous idea, and very few spas anywhere would think to send their guests from the massage table to the pastry kitchen.

The verdict

Megève was a chic Alpine resort long before Courchevel and Val d'Isère, and it has kept the warmth of a real mountain village all the while. In June 2026 Four Seasons Resort Megève became the first hotel in the town's history to be named a Palace, the French distinction that sits above five stars and is judged by an independent commission for Atout France. Only thirty three hotels in the whole country hold it, just six joined the list this year, and the same round saw three famous names lose it, which shows how seriously the title is policed and why it matters that Megève finally has one.

The resort is small for a Palace, with fifty five rooms and suites on the slopes of Mont d'Arbois, direct access to the ski area and three Michelin Keys, and the spa lives two quite different lives across the year. In winter it is where tired legs come at the end of a day on the pistes, and in summer it is the place to come back to after a long day in the high meadows.

At close to nine hundred square metres it is described as one of the largest spas in the French Alps, and for its first winter as a Palace it has grown outward, with new places to sit in hot water under the snow and a new skincare partnership for the season.

The whole place belongs firmly to its valley, and a stay here feels like Megève itself, slowed down and turned towards rest.

The water

The pool is heated and runs from inside the spa out into the open air, so a swim can begin under a roof and end with snow on the terrace and steam lifting off the surface into the cold. Since July 2026 an outdoor whirlpool large enough for twelve has looked straight out to the Alpine peaks, and sitting in that hot, moving water while the light turns pink on the mountains is the moment many guests will remember longest.

Back inside, a new natural wood sauna seats up to eight around a wall of salt that softens the air, and it opens towards the countryside, so the heat comes with a view. A steam room completes the warm side of the journey, the kind of wet heat that loosens a back stiffened by a long day in ski boots.

Then there is a flotation bed holding six hundred litres of water heavy with Epsom salts, used during guided meditation. Lying on it the body is held completely, with nothing left for tired muscles to do but let go, and it is the deepest rest the spa has to offer.

Treatments

Six treatment rooms make up the spa, including a VIP suite for two with its own bath and shower, and this winter they carry the full face and body menu of myBlend. The brand was founded by Dr Olivier Courtin of the Clarins family, and its whole approach is to encourage the skin to renew itself, drawing on research into the nervous system and gentle, non invasive technology. It made its French spa debut in Paris only in the autumn of 2025, so finding the full menu in a mountain spa is a genuine rarity. The resort says it is also the first in France to preview CellSynergy2, a myBlend device that brings together radiofrequency, ultrasound, gentle electrical stimulation and alternating heat and cold.

QMS Medicosmetics sits alongside it for those who know and love that range, and the winter brings a handful of seasonal rituals, among them a myBlend signature treatment made for the resort, a New Year, New Skin ritual and a Bath Experience.

Beyond the treatment rooms, the spa leans into the mountains around it. Meditation and sound healing can be arranged on request, and in summer a small wellness dome outside hosts Pilates, while mountain walks and yoga take place with the peaks in full view.

Getting in

The spa is open to resort guests and to outside visitors, with day passes for adults, couples and children, so a day here is possible without a stay. Anyone booking a treatment of ninety minutes or more on the day has an hour in the spa before and after included, which turns a single massage into a proper afternoon. For longer stays in the valley there are weekly and monthly passes too.

The spa usually runs from nine in the morning until nine at night, and it is worth confirming times when booking, which can be done by phone on +33 (0)4 50 21 12 11 or through the resort's online booking. The resort stands at 373 Chemin des Follières, and Geneva is the nearest airport, around seventy five minutes away by road. Guests aged eighteen and under come with a responsible adult, and swim nappies are needed for little ones up to three.

What to know before you fall in love

  • The resort opens for a winter season and a summer season and closes in spring and autumn, so a visit needs planning around those two windows.
  • This is a family resort, with a Kids Club and a Teen Zone, so it suits families better than anyone looking for an adults only hush.
  • The myBlend menu arrives as a winter collaboration, so anyone travelling in summer especially for it should check it is still running.

Best for

Skiers who want the day to end in hot water under the peaks, couples sharing the VIP suite, families looking for a Palace that genuinely welcomes children, skincare lovers who want to try myBlend in the mountains, and summer walkers who like the idea of meadows, yoga and a flotation bed after a day at altitude.
