The verdict

Coworth Park sits within 240 acres of Berkshire parkland near Ascot, a Dorchester Collection country house hotel of 71 rooms and suites. Its spa had been a fairly conventional country house offer until the whole thing closed for a full rebuild, reopening in June 2025 with a design by Sparcstudio and, according to trade press covering the relaunch, thermal experiences formed by the German spa manufacturer KLAFS. Whatever the exact split of credit, the result is a genuinely different building from the one that existed before.

The treatment side leans on four product houses rather than one signature brand. The Hebridean seaweed brand ishga, hand harvested off Scotland's northwest coast, appears in facials such as the Hebridean Sound Escape. Natura Bissé, the Barcelona skincare house, arrived as a new partnership with the relaunch and anchors treatments such as the Diamond Drop Age Defying Glow. Wildsmith, the British botanical brand better known from its home at Heckfield Place, supplies a Recovery Treatment built specifically for Dorchester Collection. Made for Life Organics, hand blended in Cornwall, covers gentler and cancer care safe work, including a menopause focused treatment. HydraFacial technology sits alongside all of this as a named facial option rather than a skincare house of its own.

Every treatment room was renamed for the relaunch after flora found somewhere on the Coworth Park estate, and the consultation process was rebuilt too, a 360 degree assessment paired with a personalised soundscape rather than a standard form and a chat. Two relaxation rooms bookend the treatment side, Awaken for daylight and garden views, and Calm, darkened and fitted with wellness loungers for guests who want to disappear into the quiet rather than look at anything at all.

Food gets its own line here because the hotel treated it as part of the rebuild rather than an afterthought. The Spa Café, new with the relaunch, serves seasonal salads, grain bowls, fresh juices and herbal teas made by the hotel's own kitchen, on a terrace that looks out over the grounds, and Woven by Adam Smith, the hotel's fine dining restaurant, currently holds a Michelin star.

The water

The centrepiece is a single indoor pool, described on the hotel's own site as amethyst lined and set to underwater music, with no published measurements. There is no outdoor pool and no separate hydrotherapy pool published, so the thermal offer here is a compact, purpose built suite rather than a long circuit of rooms.

Treatments

The menu runs across four confirmed product houses, ishga, Natura Bissé, Wildsmith and Made for Life Organics, plus HydraFacial as a named technology facial. Signature treatments include the ishga Hebridean Sound Escape, the ishga Renewing Facial, the Natura Bissé Diamond Drop Age Defying Glow and the Wildsmith Recovery Treatment, built specifically for Dorchester Collection. Individual therapists are not named on the treatment menu, so the emphasis sits on the product houses and the treatments themselves rather than on any one practitioner. Manicure, pedicure and hairdressing services are available to resident guests only.

Getting in

The spa opens daily from half past six in the morning to nine at night, with treatments running from ten until seven. Six named spa day packages, from a shorter thermal and supper visit to a full treatment day, are bookable by anyone and include full use of the pool and thermal suite. A treatment only booking for a non resident guest does not include that facility access, so a spa day package is the route in if the pool and thermal suite matter to the visit. Hotel residents may use the spa ahead of check in and until midday on their departure day. Treatments and the gym are for guests eighteen and over, and family swim times are published for hotel residents with children outside those hours. An accessible changing room, a floor lift and a portable pool lift are provided.

What to know before you fall in love

A treatment only booking as a non resident does not come with use of the pool or thermal suite, so anyone picturing a single massage followed by an afternoon by the water needs to book one of the spa day packages instead. The thermal offer itself is a single sauna and a single steam room rather than the long circuit some destination spas run to, and there is one indoor pool with no outdoor or infinity alternative. Treatments and the gym are adults only, which suits a couple's spa day well but is worth knowing if a family stay is the plan, since the pool's family swim times are for hotel residents rather than day visitors.
